Prince Harry has been making headlines over the last few days after reports that his children may no longer come to the UK in July as a result of security concerns. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex had planned a five-day return to Britain together next week, with the visit reportedly providing an opportunity for their children Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Liliebt, five, to see their father’s home country.

However, the plans seem to now be up in the air after it was revealed that the family would not be permitted to have armed police protection during their stay. This has reportedly left Harry, 41, angry, as he has always said he deems any visit to the UK without security unsafe for his wife and children. It is now believed he is trying to work out a way for them all to still visit the UK safely as a family, especially as they are already in Europe enjoying their Portugal holiday home.

One option Harry, who is likely to still visit the UK even if he has to come alone, is reportedly considering is to fly his wife and children into the UK for less than 24 hours.

This would ensure Archie and Lilibet could still meet their grandfather King Charles, who they have not seen since 2022.

The Daily Mail reports that Harry wants “to give his children the opportunity to enjoy the UK”, but needs “proportionate protective security” to do this.

In a statement on Monday, Harry’s spokesman said: “The Duke continues to explore every available option to enable the visit to proceed safely and to give his children the opportunity to enjoy the UK.

“Safe accommodation is only one element of an effective protective security plan because risk follows the person, not the place. The issue has never been accommodation. The issue is whether appropriate and proportionate protective security is being provided throughout the entirety of the visit.

“The independent Risk Management Board that Ravec itself decided was necessary last November has still not taken place. It is therefore difficult to understand how the proportionality of the current arrangements can credibly be maintained without that independent assessment.”

The family were offered the chance to stay at a royal residence during their UK visit by King Charles.
