Gregg Wallace has suffered a mystery injury which has left him struggling to walk. On Friday (July 3), the former MasterChef host took to Instagram to share a health update with his loyal legion of fans. In the clip, the 61-year-old can be seen using a crutch to help him walk across the room, explaining that he has been diagnosed with a "disc issue".

He began: "I've got a disc issue, and I've properly hurt myself, and that scared me. That's a reminder to me and everybody else that health should always be a priority. Because without good health, we can't do anything else at all."

The broadcaster reassured fans, insisting: "I'm getting help, and I will be fine." The dad-of-two captioned the post: "Please look after yourself and make your health a priority." It didn't take long for viewers to flock to the comments to pass along their well-wishes online.

One user penned: "It's not easy when you have a health setback. Glad you are improving each day [heart emoji]." Another agreed: "Hope you have a speedy recovery," as a third echoed: "Health is wealth, mate [smiling emoji]."

However, despite the dismissal and the inevitable drop in his finances - including his £ 400,000-per-year MasterChef salary - he has stated that he is far happier. He has since shared some additional insight into his financial struggles after the big pay cheque stopped overnight.

Taking to social media, Gregg told his followers: "I used to earn a load of money, right? And then it stopped overnight, it stopped. So let me tell you what I've learned from this experience. Security is hugely important, but you don't need millions in order to feel secure. "

He said that the moment they "broke even", it brought him a sense of calm and taught him a lot. He admitted that earning the bigger bucks just to cover even bigger bills wasn't worth it and was "just stress". Gregg continued: "I don't think happiness can be found in not needing more.

"That is calmness. Happiness for me is companionship and simple pleasures anyway. Think about that." The chef explained that he and his family are no longer scared about money and don't have to dip into their savings, as he admitted they made an effort to work hard to lower their spending and budget for everything.
