Princess Catherine made a surprise visit to Evelina London Children's Hospital today, with the 44-year-old having been their royal patron since 2018. The visit allowed the royal to learn more about how the hospital is working to bring specialist expertise together with family-centred support to help children and their loved ones navigate their way through challenging times.

Taking to social media, royal fans were delighted by the royal's surprise visit in London - with many appearing to share the same comment about Catherine and her role in the Royal Family.

One said: "Princess of Wales is the jewel in the British crown."

Another added: "The Princess of Wales could genuinely give a masterclass on what it means to be a modern royal. Carole and Michael Middleton raised an extraordinary daughter - and it’s clear Prince William not only loved her, but recognised she was born for this life of service..."

Speaking of an adorable moment that Catherine was presented with some flowers from a little girl outside of the hospital, a third added: "Her compassion and connection with young patients and their families is always so genuine and uplifting."

Another added: "so beautiful and lovely [pink-heart emojis]."

Dressed in a beautiful white mid-length dress, another added: "She embodies the perfect definition of natural elegance. It doesn’t matter what she wears."

Last year, Catherine celebrated the charity's 20th anniversary with a heartfelt message.

She wrote: “As Patron of Evelina, I'm delighted to join everyone at Evelina London Children's Hospital in celebrating the 20th anniversary of its iconic hospital building.

"Over the past two decades, this extraordinary space has enabled Evelina London to care for nearly three times as many children and young people as when it first opened. It is a place that symbolises love, healing and hope and has had such an impact on countless lives..."

She added: "...Looking ahead, I am filled with hope for Evelina's future. As it continues to grow, even more children will benefit from the world-class care that defines Evelina, a place where healing begins with connection, and every child is cherished."
