Flashy cars or piles of cash do not show that you are truly rich in life, according to new research. Instead treating others with kindness, picked by 64% of those quizzed, having good health, by 59% and being able to admit your mistakes, by 46% topped the list when people were asked what the biggest signs of success are.
Overall, 85% of the people polled considered themselves rich in life. They also cited having friends who always cheer you on, chosen by 43% and feeling comfortable in your own skin, by 35%, as achievements in life.
The research showed Britons also chose making people laugh (30%), having a best friend that you trust with your life (30%), and having teens who actually like spending time with you (23%) as more important than material assets.
Philip Murphy, managing director of Haribo, which commissioned the study, said: "Success means different things to different people, but our research shows that having people to cheer you on and celebrate everyday wins, no matter how small, is what helps people feel fulfilled.”
