Disgraced television star Rolf Harris' rotting riverside mansion is being sold for a staggering £1.6million after the original asking price was reduced by more than half. Documents seen by The Sun show a property development firm is going through the process of completing a deal to buy the convicted paedophile's former home. It was later revealed that the shamed entertainer sexually assaulted one of his victims in the fout four-bedroom house, which looks out over the River Thames.
In 2023, he died in the riverside property at the age of 93, after years of living there as a recluse following his release from prison. The house was first put on the market for £4million last year before the price was cut.
The house later went to auction with a guide price of £1.95million, though it failed to reach its reserve after bidding halted at £1.52million. Kand Registry records now reveal Deborah Developments International Limited is in the process of completing the purchase of the neglected property.
The company is run by Elaine Burke and Peter Titterell. Their catering business has worked on major films, including the massive James Bond film, The World Is Not Enough. The sale comes after Harris' only daughter, Bindi, inherited the property along with a chunk of his £16million estate.
Documents also show that there was no mortgage secured against the house. Harris bought the riverside home back in 1980 with his wife, Alwen Hughes, during the height of his stardom. The couple lived there for decades, with Harris later returning to the family home in 2017 following his release from prison.
A new documentary, titled Rolf Harris: Primetime Predator, revealed that the home was searched by police during Operation Yewtree in 2013. It also claimed Harris was viewing indecent images of children there on the day of the late Queen's Diamond Jubilee concert in 2012, hours before appearing in a televised birthday tribute to the monarch watched by millions.
The TV star passed away from throat and neck cancer in 2023, one year before his wife Alwen died after suffering a stroke in 2024. The house was later put on the market, but it struggled to attract a buyer at its original eye-watering £4million asking price before it finally changed hands and dropped to £1.4million.
Estate agents described the house as a four-bedroom home that boasts a large master bedroom, numerous balconies overlooking the river and 6440sqft of space. Harris, who was a prominent TV personality in the UK from the 1960s until his arrest, was jailed for more than five years in July 2014.
He was found guilty of a dozen indecent assaults against four young girls, with some of his heinous crimes having taken place inside the Bray house between 1968 and 1986.
