Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet are said to have "no concept" about the magnitude of their paternal grandfather's royal status. Archie, seven, and his little sister Lilibet, five, were set to travel to the UK this week, however, after their father's request for taxpayer-funded police protection was denied, the young royals have stayed away from Britain during Prince Harry's trip.
The 41-year-old arrived in the UK on Monday afternoon, with the royal having already received more bad news just hours into his visit. The King's youngest son lost his unlawful information-gathering lawsuit against the Daily Mail’s publisher, Associated Newspapers Ltd, earlier today.
Speaking of Harry and Meghan's children, a friend close to the couple has revealed that Archie and Lilibet aren't aware of their relatives statues.
They told HELLO!: "The truth is they don't really have any concept about who they [the Royal Family] are."
The friend also shared that Harry and Meghan "are very good at keeping them away from it all so they live as normal little kids".
According to the publication, Archie and Lilibet were "excited" to potentially see King Charles, although it seems that they view him simply as their grandfather and not as King.
In contrast to their cousins, who have grown up in California, Prince William's three children are very aware of their grandfather's position in the Royal Family.
Royal expert and author Tom Quinn previously claimed to The Mirror that Archie, however, "loves the idea that his grandad lives in a castle" and "many of his books are about kings, princesses and castles".
Archie was born in the UK in 2019, whereas Lilibet joined the family one year after their move to the US.
Lilibet is known to have travelled to the UK once, around the time of her first birthday, to attend the late Queen's Platinum Jubilee in June 2022.
