Katie Price suffered a drug problem that left her children feeling “lonely and unloved”. Katie Price: Nothing to Hide has arrived on Sky Documentaries and NOW, delving into the controversial former glamour model’s personal life and career.
But the special gets particularly emotional in the final episode when Katie’s eldest children Junior, 21, and Princess, 19, talk about a period when their mum was using drugs. Junior shared: “The siblings would just look after each other. I remember trying to figure out if food was microwaveable to feed us for dinner… not that she didn’t feed us, but she was out all the time.”
He went on to recall a heartbreaking incident where he woke up at 3.30am to find Katie on drugs.
“I’ll never forget the look on her face. She was obviously on stuff… I could see it in her eyes”, Junior said.
“It scared me because I’ve never seen my mum like that. She’s there, but she’s not there.
“When she wasn’t in the right headspace, she wasn’t being a mum. She wasn’t being the mum that I knew from when I was a little boy.
“The amount of love that she gave me was so immense, and that’s what I missed so much.”
Junior went to live with their dad Peter Andre for a time, sharing that he was grateful that his father was “stable”.
Meanwhile, Princess remembered her mum spraying a blanket with her perfume when she would leave, commenting: “I remember after school I used to go home and feel so lonely, I used to cuddle the blanket and just cry.”
Following the release of Nothing to Hide, Katie appeared on This Morning, sharing that Junior and Princess had warned her about their interviews.
Katie shared: “Junior said: 'I proper broke down' and Princess said: 'So did I' and I was like 'Why?'
"I never knew because obviously I wanted to kill myself and I did try…
“That period of my life, I don't think people realise when I said when I said I had a breakdown, I wanted to die, didn't want to be here.
"And so as much as I thought I was being a mum, I wasn't. I was vacant. For young kids like that wanting their mum.
"I was trying to be the perfect mum and obviously I wasn't. It kills me I put them through that.”
