A major UK train station has been evacuated following a fire on a train this morning. All lines at Birmingham New Street were also closed in the midst of the evacuation, National Rail and West Midlands Railway confirmed.
Confirming a fire had erupted on a train, Avanti wrote on X: "Due to a fire on a train at Birmingham New Street, all lines are blocked. Train services running through this station may be cancelled, delayed or diverted via Bescot Stadium."
