Prince George’s noticeable growth spurt stunned royal fans as he walked alongside his mother at Wimbledon on Sunday. The Prince and Princess of Wales, with George and Princess Charlotte, arrived at the All England Club shortly after 3pm for the men’s singles final.

They were greeted by British wildcard Arthur Fery, who reached the semi-finals and was celebrating his 24th birthday. Kate, wearing an olive green midi-dress, handed Fery a birthday card. She told him: “This is for you, happy birthday.” She then introduced the player to George and Charlotte, who both shook his hand.

Fery, who had not played on Centre Court before this tournament, described the experience as “really special.” He told Kate he understood her children play tennis and invited them to “hit some balls” with him. William congratulated Fery on his run and wished him a happy birthday, exclaiming “what a tournament.”

Fery later said the princess had attended his second-round match. He added:, “It was good to see her here and good to meet her finally.” She wished him luck for the rest of the year. He noted the family are big tennis fans and said he would be available if the children wanted to play. He joked: “Let’s see if I get the call up.”

The family received a standing ovation upon entering the Royal Box. Kate waved to the crowd before taking her seat in the front row. As patron of the All England Club, she will present the winner’s trophy after the match.

Other royals in attendance included Lord Frederick Windsor, Sophie Winkleman, and Lady Gabriella Kingston. Celebrities present were Nicole Kidman, Rami Malek, Raye, and former champion Stan Smith.
