Open-toed sandals are an excellent option for a day at the beach or a stroll in the park, yet they're far from ideal when you need to commute to the office. With the heatwave showing no sign of abating, many of us are undoubtedly be dreading the prospect of wearing formal footwear throughout the working week.

Fortunately, Clarks has produced a pair of sandals smart enough for the workplace as well as other semi-formal occasions. Moreover, they bear a striking resemblance to a pair of Skechers that retail for nearly £60.

The Solevana Jane sandals in white were originally priced at £55 but have been slashed to better than half price in Clarks' summer sale, available to browse in full here. This brings the total down to a reasonable £25, representing a saving of £30.

The Solevana Jane sandals are available in sizes three to nine, with select half sizes also on offer. Shoppers can additionally purchase the shoes in black or navy, both of which are priced at £55.

Clarks also offers the sandals in a stunning mauve colourway, currently on sale for £26 rather than £55. While not entirely identical, the silhouette bears a remarkably close resemblance to Skechers' Black Bedford Trainers, which retail for £59 at Next, reports the Manchester Evening News.

A welcome addition to Clarks' popular Cloudsteppers collection, the shoes are specially designed to restore and rejuvenate feet with every step. Crafted for all-day comfort and effortless style, they suit everyone - from those constantly on their feet to comfort-seekers who simply refuse to compromise.

For those with a more generous budget, the Merrell Relay Tour Mary Jane Shoes are available for £75 at Urban Outfitters. Crafted with a premium leather and textile upper, the low-profile trainers feature a touch strap fastening, round toe, removable EVA foam footbed and rubber sole.

Back at Clarks, the Solevana Jane sandals have one review so far. It reads: "Best shoe for comfort. As l suffer with my feet, l can now walk without having to stop. Thank you, will be buying other colours."

As the shoes feature a fabric upper, however, they may be prone to showing dirt, scuffs and stains with ease. They are also not waterproof, making them far from ideal for days when rain is likely.

That said, the Solevana Jane sandals remain an excellent option for those seeking a polished yet sporty pair of sandals suitable for most workplace environments. Pick them up for £25 here.
