A man in a wheelchair has sadly died after a car "mounted the kerb" in a UK city. The collision involving a car and pedestrians took place on Market Street on Sunday afternoon (12 July) in Bradford ar around 3.22pm.

A blue Nissan Qashqai moved off from traffic lights and mounted the kerb colliding with a 50-year-old man in a wheelchair who was in the pedestrianised area. The car also struck a a 31-year-old-man, who suffered serious head injuries. He is still in hospital and his injuries are not life-threatening, police said.

Emergency services attended the scene to treat both victims, but the 50-year-old died at the scene. A 13-year-old boy also suffered minor injuries.

The driver, a 30-year-old Bradford man, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and other traffic offences. He was interviewed and has now been released on police bail pending continuing enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Nina Roper, of the Major Collision Enquiry Team, said: "Multiple enquiries remain ongoing into this very serious incident which has sadly resulted in a man losing his life, and another man suffering serious injuries.

"We are investigating the exact circumstances of the collision, including why the Nissan mounted the kerb, and would like to speak to anyone who saw or has footage of what happened or of the Nissan beforehand."
