Prince Harry recently travelled back to the UK, and his return proved far from straightforward.

The King's youngest son was officially visiting from California last week to promote the forthcoming Invictus Games, due to take place in Birmingham during July 2027. Nevertheless, his journey was overshadowed by controversy regarding royal accommodation arrangements and his lodging plans.

Harry's representatives maintain he received an invitation to stay at Buckingham Palace but required time to respond while organising private security, since he was denied police protection. The Duke of Sussex claims the Palace withdrew the invitation at the last minute.

This follows King Charles outlining his sole condition before seeing his grandchildren, Archie and Lilibet, during Prince Harry's UK visit.

Palace sources insist the invitation remained open for a substantial period with a clear deadline to permit staff sufficient preparation time.

They contend Harry's team failed to meet the deadline, formally declined it, and later tried to change their decision too late.

There's also continued debate surrounding Harry's security arrangements - which he references as the explanation for travelling to the UK without his wife, Meghan Markle, and their children, Lilibet and Archie - alongside Harry's failed legal challenge against the Mail publisher.

Amidst the drama, a harsh three-word nickname previously attributed to both Harry and his uncle Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has re-emerged. On the Sun's Royal Exclusive podcast, The Times' Royal Editor Kate Mansey revealed: "It was Dukes of Hazard, that's the nickname they had for Andrew and Harry because hazard, chaos followed both of them.

"They were the two big problems that were pointed out to me by courtiers, big hurdles for the king during his reign, alarm signals flash every time their names are mentioned.

"Do we expect this chaos every time Harry comes? Well yes, we do. Because I think, what we've seen, the people I'm speaking to at the Palace, it's a pattern of behavior.

"For weeks beforehand there's briefings from his camp, what's going to happen, maybe the children are going to come, he wants to bring the children, then we have the familiar row over security."

Kate also highlighted how Harry lost his legal challenge to secure an automatic right to UK police security. "It seems every time he comes palace courtiers get more and more weary with it and frankly I think the public do too," she added.

Harry arrived in Birmingham last Thursday, 9 July, to launch the one-year countdown to the Invictus Games, attending and taking part in demonstration events alongside competitors from previous Invictus Games.

Meghan and their children joined Harry over the weekend having missed most of the visit, with the family meeting King Charles.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry's genuine sentiments following the UK visit with Meghan Markle have been revealed.
