As we've mentioned, the President has formally notified Congress the US is at war with Iran once again.
It's important to note that this is not just some housekeeping, where one branch of the government informs another about international affairs.
The notification is important because it allows the President to organise military action in the Middle East for 60 days without Congress' approval.
The US has not formally declared war on Iran - only Congress can do that, according to the constitution. So this notification is how Trump can conduct a military operations without that declaration of war.
