The full statement from PSNI read: "Police are currently at the scene of a security alert in the Rosapenna Parade area of north Belfast, following the search of a property during the early hours of this morning, Friday, 17th July.
"Properties located in the surrounding area are currently being evacuated – and the Ardoyne Community Centre has been opened for local residents.
"Cordons are also in place and we would ask that the public avoid the Rosapenna Street and Cliftonville Road areas at this time, as officers remain at the scene, with enquiries set to continue for some time.
"In particular, it is anticipated that there will be significant traffic disruption to the Cliftonville Road area as we move into the morning, so we would ask that you please seek an alternative route for your journey.
"We understand the disruption this may cause, however, public safety is always our priority. We thank everyone for their co-operation and a further update will follow in due course."
