Meghan Markle’s Emmy nomination was described as “baffling” by a royal commentator, who said her Netflix show is “lacklustre” with a “dreadfully low ongoing watching”. The Duchess of Sussex released the first series of With Love, Meghan, on Netflix in 2025.

It coincided with the unveiling of her lifestyle brand As Ever, with her first products regularly promoted throughout the show. Nominated in the outstanding lifestyle programme category, the series will compete against NBC’s George to the Rescue, Hallmark’s The Motherhood, The Wizard of Paws and A Different Breed. But a royal commentator criticised the nomination, saying it will only be a “PR win”.

Royal commentator Hilary Fordwich told Fox News: “Well, not so surprising when one considers these award bodies reward high-profile players who might garner the award's attention.

“Nevertheless, given how polarising MM is & that the show had completely lacklustre ongoing watching views, it is somewhat baffling.”

She added: “The really weak commercial traction of her show, with dreadfully low ongoing watching demonstrated by lack of audience appeal, doesn’t warrant such an award, but no doubt it will garner the aforementioned media attention.”

Winners will be announced at a ceremony at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles on October 30.

Across its two seasons, Meghan’s show featured guest appearances from Mindy Kaling, Tan France and Chrissy Teigen, with episodes focusing on gardening, cooking and other lifestyle topics.

The show has not been renewed for a third season.

Elsewhere, The Young And The Restless led the daytime drama field with 18 nominations, followed by CBS’s Beyond The Gates with 15 and General Hospital with 13.

Actress Drew Barrymore and singer Kelly Clarkson will vie for Outstanding Daytime Talk Series alongside The View, Live With Kelly And Mark, Today with Jenna And Friends and 3rd Hour Of Today.
