The first thing which might cross your mind when you think of a sleeper bus is how comfortable will it be? These overnight coaches provide travel with lie-flat beds, bunks or reclining seats.

In the UK, they're quite common with premium chartered "star buses" for touring production crews. In Europe, the Amsterdam to Zurich Twilighter service is a popular option for long-haul coaches. One woman recently boarded the coach to travel from the Netherlands to Switzerland in style – and she was pleasantly surprised by the entire trip.

The traveller, known as Claire's Footsteps on social media, recently uploaded a video on her Instagram and TikTok pages to show what the experience is truly like.

In the clip, she began: "I'm about to take this business class lie flat sleeper bus from Amsterdam to Zurich. This is the Twilighter Europe's first sleeper bus with seats that you can fully recline and get a good night's sleep on."

Detailing the experience, Claire continued: "I boarded the coach and we headed south through to Netherlands, I was given a bag with my bedding and had a look at the seat functions which had tray tables and charging facilities.

"Downstairs there's a toilet and a separate changing room with atmosphere lighting and luxury soap, plus a snack bar with free tea and coffee.

"There is also complimentary Wi-Fi which stayed strong throughout my whole journey. I headed back to my seat to make my bed up for the night, all you need to do here is press two buttons to fully recline."

Claire finally got comfortable and laid flat on the bus, prepared to have a good night's sleep.

She said seatbelts must always stay fastened during the duration of your snooze, and there's a bag to put your feet in which keeps you secured.

Then after getting some shut eye, Claire finally found herself in another country. She continued: "I woke up in Switzerland and headed back downstairs to refresh and grab a coffee and all too soon we arrived in Zurich and it was time to disembark.

"I slept so well throughout the night in terms of sleeping on public transport, I'd give it a 9.5 out of 10."

People were equally surprised by the experience with many followers flooding the comments section on TikTok. One said: "That looks great," while another added: "Amazing."

While on Instagram, many people asked Claire for her guide. Some were also invested by the loo situation. One intrigued follower asked: "Was the toilet clean and do you have to queue up?"

To which Claire replied: "It was spotless and no, no queues." Others wondered how it was sleeping on the bus, although Claire admitted in the clip that she "slept well throughout".

Travelling from Amsterdam to Zurich overnight can cost between €29 and €160+ (around £25 to £136) per person one-way, depending on the level of comfort you choose.

The direct ÖBB Nightjet (train NJ402/NJ403) departs Amsterdam Central around 20:30 and arrives at Zurich HB the next morning at 08:20.
