Piers Morgan had the perfect response to actress Jameela Jamil’s “anti-British” comments after she branded Brits “the most evil [people] in the world”, comparing the country to Marvel villain Thanos. In a recent podcast appearance, Jamil said: “Americans think British people are so sweet, which is so crazy because British people are truly the most evil people in history. They are Thanos. Britain is Thanos. They owe 43trillion to India. We colonise the world."

She added: “And also like Britain is f**ked. Yeah, it doesn't feel as though you know, I'm going back to some sort of literal race war happening right now. Brexit paved the way for American chaos. You know, they put the stone in the road."

But now Piers has clapped back with a comment of his own, tweeting: “Excellent… then obviously, Ms Jamil will no longer wish to grace us with her graceless presence.”

He wasn’t the only celebrity giving his verdict – Monty Python legend John Cleese also chimed in on social media.

Cleese said: “I wonder if Jameela relies too much on comic books for her knowledge of history, rather than the writings of historians. But I admit, I am personally a very, very evil person.”

Responding to the initial podcast clip that saw Jamil brand British people “evil”, he added: “Ignorance is bliss.”

However, Good Morning Britain panellist Narinder Kaur stuck up for the actress, stating on X: “They've all gone crazy because a brown british woman - Jameela Jamil, dared to say in her opinion (you know freedom of speech…)

“Her opinion based on history. Her freedom of speech. Why you all mad and telling her to go back to India??” she wrote with a cry-laughing emoji, adding the hashtag #SolidarityWithJameelaJamil.
