Sarah Ferguson's namesake charity, Sarah's Trust, has officially closed its doors for good, months after the former Duchess of York was embroiled in the Epstein scandal.

Back in February, the charity said it would close "for the foreseeable future" days after new details emerged about the former Duchess's friendship with the convicted sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein.

A statement at the time read: "Our chair, Sarah Ferguson, and the board of trustees have agreed that, with regret, the charity will shortly close for the foreseeable future.

"This has been under discussion and in train for some months. We remain extremely proud of the trust's work over recent years. We have partnered with over 60 other charities in over 20 countries, providing education, healthcare, crisis response and environmental projects."

They continued: "We delivered over 150,000 aid parcels during the Covid pandemic, provided medical aid and training for those affected by the war in Ukraine and delivered education for over 200 children in Ghana."

Sarah's Trust was established in 2020 and was "dedicated to supporting frontline, grassroots work to address the humanitarian and environmental crisis, the hunger crisis and issues perpetuating cycles of extreme poverty", according to its website.

The former duchess has already been dropped by multiple charities over her Epstein links, including the likes of the Teenage Cancer Trust and Prevent Breast Cancer.

Ever since last year, the former Duchess has lost her titles, her home at Royal Lodge in Windsor and her connections to numerous charities that she retained despite her divorce from Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor in 1996.

The Department of Justice's release of the Epstein Files last year saw several of Sarah's messages to the sex offender become public. One email from August 3, 2009, showed her telling him that he was like a "brother" to her.

The email from Sarah read: "In just week, after your lunch, it seems the energy has lifted. I have never been more touched by a friends kindness than your compliment to me in front of my girls. Thank you Jeffrey for being the brother I have always wished for."

Other emails from 2009 show Sarah calling Epstein a "legend", with an email in 2010 showing they were still in contact as she invited the late paedophile to Andrew's 50th birthday party at St. James's Palace. It is believed Epstein couldn't attend.

It has been reported that the invitation and emails were sent to Epstein after he was released from prison in July 2009 for soliciting prostitution of a minor.
