Granada in Spain has been rocked by an earthquake as locals panic over tremors that "felt like an explosion". The earthquake occurred 3.73 miles (6km) South of Granada at 3.46pm local time (2.46pm BST).
The Mediterranean Seismological Centre said the earthquake measured a magnitude of 3.7. The earthquake had its epicentre in the town of Ogíjares, at a depth of 6 kilometres, although the National Geographic Institute initially located the epicentre in La Malahá at a depth of 10 kilometres. An aftershock was felt in Armilla, with a magnitude of 1.7 and a depth of 6 kilometers.
Locals shared their experiences on X, describing how the tremors caused floors and walls to shake.
One said: "Yes, near traumatology it's been like an explosion, they've moved the floor and walls."
Another added: "I was eating at my house and everything shook for about 5 very intense seconds." A third wrote: "There was just an earthquake in Granada???????? My house shook in a brutal way."
On July 21, Granada experienced another earthquake when a magnitude 3.0 tremor, centred in Gor, shook the Guadix region.
