The five-day sentencing hearing for Robert Bush has resumed at Hull Crown Court this morning. Bush, 48, has admitted 67 offences, including preventing a lawful and decent burial, fraudulent trading, fraud by false representation and theft from well-known charities.

This followed the discovery of 35 bodies and more than 100 sets of ashes at the premises of his firm Legacy Independent Funeral Directors, in Hull, in March 2024. On the second day of the sentencing hearing, Bush sat in the glass-fronted dock wearing a dark suit as prosecutor Chris Paxton KC continued to outline the case against him.
