More than 200 areas of the UK are set to see temperatures plummet below 10C on Sunday just days after millions basked in a heatwave.
With the mercury reaching the mid-30s in the south east this week, many would expect the warm weather to continue into the weekend. However, a chill will spread across much of the country on Sunday (August 2) morning, with 204 council areas in England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland set to see temperatures drop into single-figures celsius.
That’s according to forecasts from Net Weather, released on Wednesday (July 29).
The Met Office forecast for Friday (July 31) to Sunday is: “Friday and the weekend will hold onto a fresher feel. There will be a lot of dry weather with some sunny spells, though one or two showers are also possible.”
It’s forecast to be 9C or below in 29 Scots council areas, 15 Welsh, 9 Northern Irish, and 151 English.
Although temperatures will be cool on Sunday morning, they will climb as the day progresses. The forecast high is set to be in London and Brighton at 26C.
In other major UK cities, it will be 19C in Belfast, 25C in Cardiff, 20C in Edinburgh, and 22C in Manchester.
