An Afghan refugee who is accused of killing a British woman in Athens, Greece, has been named and pictured. Sharif Ahmadzai, 26, a professional boxer who ran a refugee charity in Athens, is suspected of killing Elisabeth-Jane Ross, 38, before stuffing her remains into a suitcase and dumping it in an abandoned building in Kypseli on July 16.
He is also accused of using the Scottish national’s bank cards to withdraw thousands of euros. CCTV is said to show him leaving the flat where she was staying carrying a suitcase, later found at the site of her body. Ahmadzai arrived in Greece via Lesvos in 2016 and married US-born Alaina Hall in 2023. The couple founded Love Every Nation Athens, a ministry helping refugees, and are believed to have known Elisabeth through their work.
