Blasts have been heard and smoke is billowing into the night sky in Dubai, according to eyewitnesses.
Images shared on social media late on Tuesday evening (August 4) show smoke drifting across the city, the largest in the United Arab Emirates. Social media users in Dubai have also reported hearing 'at least 4-5 blasts heard in the Jebel Ali region'.
Another said: "Booms and huge smoke Jebel Ali." Images shared with the post show smoke drifting across the cityscape.
The explosions have not yet been verified by authorities. It is not yet clear what has caused reports.
The UAE has on high-alert since the Iran War broke out, given its close proximity to hostilities. Dubai is a popular location for British expats, with an estimated 240,000 calling the Emirati city home.
