Alarm bells have been ringing following reports that the U.S. Army depleted "virtually all" of its precision long-range missiles during its five-month conflict with Iran.

Three individuals with knowledge of the data have raised serious concerns over the military's preparedness for future confrontations.

The missiles in question are the Army's foremost surface-to-surface weapons, known as Army Tactical Missile Systems (ATACMS) and Precision Strike Missiles (PrSM).

The sources refused to disclose to the Times of Israel the precise remaining quantities of each munition.

President Donald Trump launched the Iran war jointly with Israel in February, predicting the conflict would last only a short amount of time.

Yet more than five months on, mounting anxiety surrounds America's missile stockpiles. As reserves dwindle, many fear the U.S. could find itself constrained in its capacity to deter rivals such as Russia and China.

A further source with knowledge of the situation revealed that while Central Command — responsible for overseeing U.S. forces across the Middle East — had nearly exhausted its land-based missiles even before hostilities commenced, it managed to replenish supplies from U.S. military reserves elsewhere around the globe.

The White House released a statement on the issue, citing Trump directly. It declared that the U.S. possesses "far more munitions than anyone in the world" and "far more than we need.

"Our defense companies are, at this moment, making more munitions than they have ever made before, in addition to expanding their plants and equipment at record levels," Trump said.
