The Metropolitan Police have issued an update on the health conditions of the men who were injured in today's incident in Covent Garden, central London. The force said two of the four victims remain in hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing, while the other two have since been discharged.

In a statement, the Met said: "Four men – aged 34, 39, 42, and 52 – were found with stab wounds and assessed at the scene by paramedics. They were taken to hospital where two remain with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening or life changing. The other two victims have since been discharged." A 47-year-old woman was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault and possession of an offensive weapon. Police have said they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident and believe it to be isolated. Police also confirmed a pair of scissors was recovered at the scene and said officers will maintain a visible presence in the area while enquiries continue.

The incident unfolded on Endell Street at around 12.30pm on Wednesday, prompting a major emergency response. The London Air Ambulance landed in nearby Trafalgar Square, although all four victims were taken to hospital by road.

A police cordon that stretched from High Holborn and covered part of Endell Street was later removed as the investigation continued.

Officers had earlier been seen speaking to people at the nearby St Mungo's homeless centre before the area was reopened.

Police said the investigation remains at an early stage as detectives continue to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

Officers will maintain a visible presence in the Covent Garden area while enquiries continue and evidence is gathered.
