Channel 4 star Anna Williamson has revealed her most cringe-worthy encounter with a famous face after almost a decade as a celebrity dating expert. On Wednesday (August 5), the Celebs Go Dating relationship expert appeared on Joe Marler's podcast, Joe Marler Will See You Now. The TV personality revealed that she accidentally sprayed pea risotto across King Charles' face during a reception at Highgrove.
The former England rugby star asked: "What is your most embarrassing celebrity encounter?" which sparked her to launch into the mortifying royal encounter. Ms Williamson explained that she has been a longstanding ambassador for the King's Trust, hence why she was invited to the star-studded affair.
She told listeners: "One of them that springs to mind involves our monarch, the King." The broadcaster admitted that nerves got the better of her when she approached the monarch over the best way to approach him.
The mum-of-two chuckled: "You can do a variety of things that are respectful, but I did all of them at one go: a curtsey, a bow, and a handshake. I then fell forward with the risotto, spat risotto in the King's face, curtseyed, but stumbled on the paving slab, fell into him, so he had to sort of push me back up again."
Despite the chaos, Ms Williamson insisted the atmosphere remained remarkably relaxed. She noted: "Everyone was quite chilled. Fortunately, there's one person who can take the p*** out of myself, and that's me."
The King stepped in to steady her, who was soon flanked by security, also lending a hand. She laughed: "He did himself offer to collect me and stand me back up again with security, but it was how I broke the ice with the King."
Mr Marler simply responded with: "That was certainly a unique way of doing that." The broadcaster first made her name in TV back in the 1990s as a children's television presenter.
She appeared on CITV, Milkshake!, and Nickelodeon before she took the leap into mainstream broadcasting. She has since carved out her place in the reality TV industry as a relationship expert, most notably by guiding lovelorn celebrities on Celebs Go Dating.
Away from the cameras, she is also a prominent mental health advocate, using her social media platforms to raise awareness around the subject.
