A 15-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder after a shooting left a 16 year old boy fighting for his life.
South Yorkshire Police said in a statement: "A teenager has been arrested and remains in custody following the shooting of a boy in Sheffield. We are committed to establishing the circumstances that led to a 16-year-old being shot on London Road and as our inquiry continues at pace, officers have made an arrest.
"The boy, aged 15, has been detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder. Yesterday (24 November) at 5.15pm we responded to reports of a shooting in the city centre.
"The victim was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition. We are committed to securing justice for the victim and ensuring dangerous offenders are off our streets, but while we can be anywhere, we can’t be everywhere, and we know answers lie within our communities.
"London Road was busy at the time of yesterday's incident, with rush hour traffic and people returning home or visiting local businesses."
Sheffield Superintendent Martin Simcock said: "Gun crime, and violent crime has no place in South Yorkshire, and the fact that a young boy is fighting for his life is appalling and will not be tolerated. Detectives, officers and forensics have been in the area today to secure evidence, but we need your help.
"I urge you to get in touch, no matter how small you believe your information to be, it could be the missing piece that we need. This boy and his family deserve answers, and we are committed to getting them."
South Yorkshire Police are now urging anyone with information on the incident to get in touch online, via live chat or by calling 101 quoting incident number 640 of 24 November 2025. You can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously on the freephone 0800 555 111 or fill out a secure form at www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
The incident forced a number of businesses to close temporarily whilst police investigations were conducted.
Dari Saleh, who owns Marmaris Turkish restaurant, told the BBC: "We work here all day and evening and then something like this, we're scared, our customers, our business, you don't feel safe."
Abdurrhman Gurner, owner of Bodrum Barber on London Road, added: "It feels a bit scary thinking every day that the city is getting worse.
"As a business owner we think is business going to go down, are people worried about coming down here?"
