News presenter Katy Tur has agreed with  a recent New York Times report suggesting that President Donald Trump seems to be "slowing down" due to age-related health decline.

The respected newspaper published an analysis earlier this week, examining how the 79 year old Trump has scaled back his activities amidst growing concerns about his cognitive and physical health during his second term in comparison to his first. This comes as the oldest president in the nation's history faces increasing speculation about his declining health.

Following the release of the NYT report, commentators have been keen to share their views on Trump's current health status. Among them are Katy Tur, a news anchor at MS Now, formerly known as MSNBC, and Joanna Coles, an executive at The Daily Beast.

"You can see [Trump "slowing down"]," Tur said to Coles during a podcast discussion. "You could see it during the campaign, even. ... He doesn't have the same amount of energy. He's not as coherent as he used to be.

'Anyone at that age is going to start slowing down'

"He's always been not entirely coherent, but it's different now. He's slower, his speech is slower, you can see him falling asleep sometimes," she added. "He's different. He's 79 years old, about to be 80, anybody at that age is going to start slowing down."

Coles replied, "They are things that if you saw them in a relative, you would be concerned."

Trump, a longstanding critic of the NYT who has launched multiple legal actions against the publication seeking billions in damages, rejected the report and unleashed personal attacks against the newspaper, branding it "THE ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE" and its "ugly" co-author in an extensive Truth Social tirade.

The NYT responded with a statement affirming it stands behind its journalism following Trump's post.

Trump blasts critics

"The Creeps at the Failing New York Times are at it again," Trump penned, proceeding to catalogue his achievements.

"Yet despite all of this the Radical Left Lunatics in the soon to fold New York Times did a hit piece on me that I am perhaps losing my Energy, despite facts that show the exact opposite. They know this is wrong, as is almost every thing that they write about me, including election results, ALL PURPOSELY NEGATIVE."

The NYT investigation revealed that Trump has dramatically reduced his public appearances by 40% during his second campaign.

Troubling signs

Tur continued by highlighting how the NYT investigation came amid mounting online speculation regarding Trump's apparent mental and physical deterioration.

She noted that questions about "cognitive abilities" had emerged as he increasingly "slurs his words" and his addresses became "even less sense."

Likewise, worries were voiced about his physical condition following the appearance of troubling photographs showing bruises on his hand, swollen ankles and leg dragging. Earlier in the year, the White House had to respond to concerns about the President's physical health, attributing it to a harmless condition known as chronic venous insufficiency and his preventive aspirin regimen.
