An Aldi customer has been left absolutely gobsmacked after noticing the price of a popular festive treat. With Christmas around the corner, supermarket shelves are filled with a number of Christmas favourites.
And while some items are available at discounted prices, allowing shoppers to take advantage of the deals in the lead-up to the holiday, that is not the case for all, as the price of one particular item has left shoppers in shock. Sharing their find on social media, food reviewer @maneatsstringz was browsing around the supermarket when he came across a large 700g box of Heroes chocolates on the store shelf, but was taken aback by the cost.
He wrote on his TikTok video: "I'm tripping or does that say £11.99 for 700g of Heroes??", with Dizzee Rascal's song 'Bonkers' playing in the background.
The revealed price was even one that was slashed from the original price of £13.99.
In the caption, he said: "This just can’t be right, I thought these were like £5 a tin or something haha someone tell me this is nuts plz haha".
The Heroes chocolates that he found were a limited-edition tin, including an assortment of nine individually wrapped chocolate varieties and toffees, and it's even more expensive in other retailers.
Sainsbury's has it priced at £16.50, while in Tesco's, shoppers can find it for £15. Cadbury's has currently slashed the price by 15% meaning customers can buy it for £14 instead of the original price of £16.50.
Other shoppers were just as shocked at the price.
One wrote: "Cadburys are taking the peach out of us! Their version of inflation has been a disgrace the last few years."
Another shared a similar situation where they saw a Quality Street tin for £12.99 and "thought what the heck".
A regular 550g Heroes tub, which most people are familiar with, can be bought for much cheaper. Tesco has the product for £7 or £5.25 for ClubCard holders, whilst Asda currently has it selling for £4.92.
