Donald Trump has been heavily criticised by a guest on CNN, who described the president's Thanksgiving Day outburst as "absolutely indefensible."

The tirade followed the shooting of two members of the West Virginia National Guard while they were deployed in Washington D. C. on Wednesday, 26 November. Sarah Beckstrom, aged 20, tragically died from her injuries the following day, whilst Andrew Wolfe, 24, remains in hospital.

The day after the incident, the president took to Truth Social to announce a "permanent pause" on immigration from "Third World Countries."

He stated, "I will permanently pause migration from all Third World Countries to allow the U.S. system to fully recover, terminate all of the millions of Biden illegal admissions, including those signed by Sleepy Joe Biden's Autopen."

Trump also launched an attack on Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, whom he labelled "seriously r------d," and targeted Rep. Ilhan Omar, a Somali immigrant, for being "always wrapped in her swaddling hijab" He falsely claimed she entered the U.S. illegally, according to reports from the Irish Star.

Former federal prosecutor and Republican strategist Joseph Moreno appeared on The Lead on CNN on Friday, 28 November, and condemned the President's remarks when questioned by guest host Boris Sanchez.

"What happened to 'Happy Thanksgiving'?" Sanchez asked his guest. Moreno responded, "Boris, you're putting your finger, honestly, on what's so difficult to be a conservative-leaning citizen, who, my whole life has cherished vigorous, but respectful debate.

"And so when you see something like this, which is absolutely indefensible, and you're sitting at the Thanksgiving table, and your family and friends say, 'How can you possibly support an administration that comes out with messages like this?' It's not easy."

Moreno explained "you have to take the big picture view."

He asked, "Do you think that we're better off as a country now than we would be under a Biden or Harris administration? And is it worth putting up with a president that puts out messaging like this?"

The former GOP strategist conceded "it's a tough one," before stating, "I'm not gonna pretend I know the answer to that."

Moreno's comments came after Republican strategist Melik Abdul voiced similar concerns on CNN about the president's contentious Thanksgiving Day messages.

"So, I was one of those who said when I saw it yesterday, I was like, 'Oh, bro, you gotta be kidding me now,'" Abdul acknowledged.

In Trump's Truth Social outburst, he also claimed "most" foreign-born U.S. residents "are on welfare, from failed nations, or from prisons, mental institutions, gangs, or drug cartels" whilst blaming them for crime across the country.

The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services announced on Thursday that it will be reviewing the Green Cards of individuals from 19 countries "of concern" as directed by Trump.

The list includes Afghanistan, Burma, Chad, the Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Yemen, Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan, and Venezuela.
