For tourists travelling to one European country, there’s something you’ll need to bear in mind, warns EasyJet. If you’re planning on a trip to Georgia, there’s some new rules and regulations which have recently come into effect. The new rules are due to begin from January 1, 2026. It will mean that tourists will now need to have travel insurance when visiting to cover them for the whole length of their stay. If you fail to do so, you could be denied entry.

EasyJet issued a statement warning customers to comply with new rules. It said: “You must have travel insurance for your trip. Please check your travel documents before you fly. “A new regulation has been introduced for visitors travelling to Georgia. You or your travel insurer will need to pay for all treatment as it’s provided.

“Medical facilities in Tbilisi are available but can be expensive. Outside Tbilisi, medical facilities are limited.”

To avoid any complications or disappointment, it’s crucial to comply with the new regulations.

Georgia is located at the eastern end of the Black Sea on the southern flanks of the main crest of the Greater Caucasus Mountains.

It is bounded on the north and northeast by Russia, on the east and southeast by Azerbaijan, on the south by Armenia and Turkey, and on the west by the Black Sea.

Georgia is known for its deep green gorges, snow-capped summits and medieval churches.

The country is referred to as the birthplace of wine and visitors are often keen to sample its drinks while visiting the country.

In April 2025, EasyJet launched its first flights to Georgia, introducing routes from London Luton, Geneva, and Milan Malpensa to Tbilisi, the country’s capital.
