A man was left in a life-threatening condition after a shooting on Christmas Day, police said. Emergency services rushed to Wilfred Drive in Darnall at 11.27pm following a report a 20-year-old man was shot in his chest. 

The victim was taken to hospital, where he remains in a critical, life-threatening condition, South Yorkshire Police said. Detectives immediately began working at pace to understand the circumstances. Four men were then arrested in connection to the incident. 

The men, aged 20, 22, 28 and 29 have all been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remain in police custody. A scene remains in place at Wilfred Drive, with officers in the area.
