Birmingham Airport is currently diverting incoming flights due to a power outage affecting a radar system. The technical glitch, which occurred in the early hours of Monday, January 12, has resulted in only departing flights being able to operate from the airport.

The problem at a National Air Traffic Service's (NATS) radar site is also causing significant delays. Several flights are being rerouted to East Midlands Airport and Liverpool's John Lennon Airport, The Mirror reports.

"Due to a technical issue with NATS' radar that serves Birmingham Airport, only departing flights are currently operating, with some delays," a spokesperson said.

"All arriving flights are currently suspended. We apologise for the delay to customers, and we are working closely with NATS to rectify the issue," the spokesperson added.
