
Emergency services swarmed a road in a UK city following a six-vehicle crash on Thursday. Police officers and paramedics rushed to Shields Road, near the junction to Valentia Avenue, just before 11am on January 15.
The road where the collision happened was temporarily blocked off to traffic as 999 crews were attending the scene. Pictures from the area show a Northumbria Police vehicle with severe damage to the front next to a white Mercedes. Enquiries are ongoing as officers look into the circumstances of the collision.
One person has been taken to hospital for further treatment, but nobody is believed to have suffered life-threatening injuries.
No arrests have been made in connection with the incident, and enquiries are ongoing.
Police are now calling appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "Shortly before 11am today (Thursday), we were alerted to a collision on Shields Road in Walkergate, near to the junction with Valentia Avenue.
"Emergency services attended the scene where it was reported that six vehicles had been involved, including one marked police vehicle.
"Thankfully nobody was believed to have suffered any life-threatening injuries. Part of the road is temporarily closed to allow for vehicle uplift and cleansing, and local diversions are in place.

A North East Ambulance Service spokesperson also said: "We were called to a road traffic incident on the junction on Valentia Avenue and Shields Road in Newcastle this morning (15 January) at 11am. We dispatched one ambulance crew and one patient was taken to RVI hospital".
