The Met Office has issued a new weather warning for wind. 

The yellow warning for wind was issued for the south west of England and will be in place tomorrow (Tuesday, January 20), from 4am to 4pm as "strong winds may cause some disruption, especially to travel," the Met Office said. Somerset, Devon, Cornwall, and Wales, are the areas likely to be hit by the strong winds, the forecaster showed in its map.

The full forecast read: "South-easterly winds will become strong and gusty during Tuesday morning, particularly over and to the northwest of high ground where gusts of 45-50 mph are likely. Meanwhile, a band of heavy rain will reach the Isles of Scilly before dawn and move east through the day, accompanied by inland wind gusts of 45-55 mph and possibly 60-65 mph over the most exposed hills and coasts. The winds will ease once the band of rain clears through."

In a previous forecast, the Met Office has also named the areas of the UK which could be facing snow on these dates between the end of January and the first day of February.

The forecaster says snow, sleet and colder conditions are expected to return from Friday, January 23, until Sunday, February 1, in its long-range forecast. A "high-pressure" cold blast will push in from the East, clashing with Atlantic weather systems, it said.

While the milder Atlantic front will dominate for the most part, bringing with it heavy rain, some parts of the UK could see snow again, such as the far northeast of England. This would likely include areas such as Newcastle, Durham and Sunderland and the border with Scotland.
