Donald Trump has briefly discussed his health, but one reporter poked fun at him after making a mistake during the interview. In a TV appearance, the reporter said: "During the interview, according to reporting, Donald Trump appeared to forget the word - and I'm not making this up, and neither are they - Alzheimers. He forgot the word when he wanted to use it in a sentence."
It was then explained that when Trump was talking about his father, and told New York magazine that his father Frederick Trump lived until he was 93, but had suffered Alzheimer's disease in the final years of his life. He told the publication: "He had one problem, at a certain age, about 86, 87, he started getting, what do they call it?" It was then claimed Trump pointed to his head and turned to his press secretary Karoline Leavitt to prompt him.
As she told him it was Alzheimer's, he said: "Like an Alzheimer's thing. Well I don't have it... I don't think about it at all. You know why? Because whatever it is, my attitude is whatever."
He reaffirmed that he's in "great shape" and said his mother and her family lived well into the 90s. The on-air reporter then reflected on the interview and said there were concerns about the marks on Trump's hand, which in the report Trump had stated was "only from shaking hands".
Trump had medics by him, including Captain Sean Barbaella, his lead physician, who he asked to verify that, to which Barbaella said: "Absolutely, I've seen the president shaking hands for over an hour." Trump then showed off his non-shaking hand and said thath and was "perfect".
The reporter then laughed as she reflected on Trump's defensive statements and shared an influx of footage of him appearing to "fall asleep" in various interviews. In the interview, he said: "It's boring as hell. I have to sit back and listen and I move my hand so that people will know I'm listening. I'm hearing every word, and I can't wait to get out."
White House officials also told the magazine: "It's not dozing, sometimes if he's thinking about something - and I made that mistake at first too - he adopts a post. He leans back or leans forward a little bit, and he either closes his eyes or looks down - because he often takes notes in his lap."
The press secretary also added that he is "actively listening".
