Brooklyn Beckham sparked a media storm when he publicly declared, "I do not want to reconcile with my family". In a series of posts on Instagram, the eldest child of Sir David Beckham, 50, and Lady Victoria Beckham, 51, accused his parents of "attacking" him and his wife in the press, saying they tried "endlessly to ruin" his relationship with Nicola Peltz.

In the scathing attack Brooklyn accused his mum of "dancing inappropriately" at his lavish wedding to billionaire heiress Nicola, 31. In an explosive statement, Brooklyn alleged the artist formerly known as Posh Spice "hijacked" his first dance, which should have been with his bride.

Annabelle Knight, who has appeared on ITV's This Morning, has weighed in on the drama and suggested the wedding dance was not what pulled the plug on Brooklyn distancing himself from the Beckhams. The sex and relationship expert at Lovehoney, suggested there are always tell-tale signs before a dramatic showdown.

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, she says: “It’s rarely that simple. When someone distances themselves from their family after marriage, it’s often less about ‘appeasing’ a partner and more about trying to reduce emotional conflict or protect the relationship from stress.

People sometimes believe that creating distance is the only way to restore peace even though it’s usually a short-term coping strategy rather than a long-term solution. Healthy partnerships don’t require isolation, but they do require balance.”

It has also been reported tension had been brewing between Nicola and her mother-in-law with Brooklyn claiming Victoria pulled out of designing her daughter-in-law's wedding dress in the "eleventh hour".

“Yes, it’s incredibly common for mothers and daughters-in-law to clash and not because either party is doing something wrong," Annabelle explained.

Both women often occupy emotionally significant roles in the same man’s life, which can trigger unconscious competition, comparison or insecurity.

The clash usually stems from unclear boundaries and shifting roles, rather than personality flaws. When expectations aren’t openly discussed, resentment can quietly build on both sides.”

Nicola and Victoria seemingly clashed again this week but luckily not with each other.

It comes as the pair released brand new modelling shoots on exactly the same day as they made a bid to put Brooklyn’s statement behind them.
