Outlander's Sam Heughan has set fans' hearts racing with the recent confirmation that he's made a Jamie Fraser series, in addition to the eighth season of the Starz series as it drops weekly.

On Instagram, the actor unveiled the first episode of the documentary titled Being Jamie, reports the Daily Record.

He explained to his followers: "As the final season of #Outlander unfolds, I've been reflecting on the incredible journey of being Jamie Fraser. It's been an extraordinary experience, and I wanted to invite you behind the curtain..

"'Being Jamie' is a 10-part mini documentary where I'll be sharing some of the defining moments of that journey from the very beginning!".

"We'll release a new episode each week alongside the Jamie Fraser Collection."

Heughan concluded: "Pour yourself a dram and travel back with me to where it all began. Slàinte."

Episode one featured Heughan discussing his initial audition for Jamie Fraser and his exploration of the character.

He displayed his well-used copy of Outlander by Diana Gabaldon, filled with annotations and bearing the original UK title Cross Stitch rather than Outlander.

Numerous Outlander enthusiasts expressed their excitement about the enlightening new series in the comments section.

One individual commented: "There's just something about sharing these moments that make everything even more special."

Another chimed in: "Excited for this series" whilst a third added: "Thank you for sharing this."

A fourth viewer wrote: "I am not ready to say goodbye to Jamie Fraser. Not now, not ever.

"Thank you for bringing him to life with such depth, strength, heart and soul. For more than a decade you made us believe in honor [sic], loyalty, courage and love in a way that only you could.

Series eight is now well underway following the programme's recent return, though it received a somewhat divided response from audiences regarding its Faith Fraser twist.

The 10-episode series will broadcast weekly and will tie up all remaining storylines of the programme.

Outlander season 8 airs on Starz in the USA on Fridays and on MGM+ via Prime Video in the UK on Saturdays
