Police have confirmed the woman and child who died in "a tragic incident" in a park in Ealing are a mother and son.
Metropolitan Police said a woman, aged 34, and a child, aged 7, died after "getting into difficulty in the water" at Elthorne Park yesterday (Saturday, 25 April). The force also said their death is being treated as non-suspicious.
Next of keen have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers, a police spokesperson said.
The Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: "Further enquiries carried out by officers into the incident have established it was a tragic accident and the deaths of the woman and child who very sadly lost their lives are being treated as non-suspicious.
"We can confirm they are a mother and son, aged 34 and seven years. Next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.
"This is understandably an incredibly difficult time for them and they have requested that their privacy be respected."
