Two British people are now self-isolating at home in the UK after potential exposure to hantavirus on a cruise ship. On April 1, the MV Hondius cruise ship, carrying around 150 passengers and crew, set sail from Argentina towards the island nation of Cabo Verde. By early May, an outbreak of a deadly hantavirus was reported on board, sending international health authorities scrambling to contain further spread and treat those taken ill. Three people have died on the ship.

The MV Hondius is now sailing towards Spain's Canary Islands after being anchored for three days near Cape Verde, an archipelago nation off the West African coast.

About 150 people are still aboard the cruise ship under "strict precautionary measures", Oceanwide Expeditions has said. They include 19 passengers and four crew members listed as British, according to figures released by the operator on Tuesday.
