Amanda Holden has revealed there is one word she and Jamie Theakston are banned from using when referring to Prince William, ahead of a special broadcast with the future King on Heart Radio later this week. The 55-year-old and her co-host Jamie Theakston, 55, will be joined by the royal live from Cornwall's Isles of Scilly on Friday (May 22), as he officially opens a new facility designed to boost medical capacity and improve healthcare access across the islands.

Announcing his forthcoming visit in a pre-recorded message aired on the pair's Breakfast Show on Tuesday (May 18), he said: "Hi Jamie and Amanda, I'm heading down to the Isles of Scilly, off the coast of Cornwall, on Friday, to see some of the terrific work going on there to support the local community. I'm also opening the new wing of the hospital in St Mary's, which will be a fantastic moment.

"Amanda, I know how fond you are of Cornwall, and the Isles of Scilly, so, it would be really lovely, if you could both come along. Have a great morning guys and I very much look forward to seeing you on Friday. Bye!".

In preparation for the visit, Amanda and Jamie welcomed etiquette expert William Hanson into the studio, seizing the chance to seek guidance on the proper way to conduct themselves in the presence of royalty.

Offering her thoughts on the Prince, the Britain's Got Talent judge described him as a "relaxed, unassuming person, who is up for a laugh", and expressed her hopes of getting him into the kitchen for a spot of cooking.

Jamie then questioned the etiquette expert on whether Prince William ought to be addressed as 'His Royal Highness', to which he responded: "That would be correct and then 'Sir' after that."

Amanda countered that they had received different guidance. "But then we've been steered away from Sir, he doesn't want to be called Sir," she claimed.

William added: "He might say, 'Call me William' and if he says, 'Call me William', that's absolutely fine. But for anyone else, almost start off more formally and then drop it down accordingly."

Later in the programme, Amanda disclosed that she and Jamie had also been advised to remain "very chilled and relaxed" upon meeting the Prince.

When a listener enquired about her outfit plans, the presenter responded: "I'm going to be honest, we're going to keep it quite casual because we're going to be [by the sea]. I might not even wear a heel, I might wear a sort of trainer just in case I have to run around.

"I'm going to get Prince William into the kitchen," she declared. "So I feel like I might need to have a pinny, all kinds of things are going through my head. The poor man doesn't know what he's let himself in for."

Prince William holds a number of prestigious titles, amongst them Prince of Wales and Duke of Cornwall.

Back in 2020, he light-heartedly joked about his preferred form of address during a guest appearance on That Peter Crouch Podcast.

When host Chris Stark asked: "What do we call you by the way? This is what I'm already struggling with," William replied: "Your Royal Highness will do," before laughing, shaking his head and adding: "Just to clarify, it's William. I'm joking."
