Mike Parry, a regular contributor on GB News, has announced he has skin cancer. He appeared on the Storm&Alexis show to talk about it as he shared that he has just been diagnosed with the disease after spotting a growth in both his right eye and on his nose. It was explained that he had a wound on his eyebrow from an incident over 50 years ago which opened up, but then wouldn’t close; he also explained that the “bubble” he had on his nose was there for 10 years but in recent tests it was determined that both had become cancerous.

He explained that he had recently had biopsies, as well as on his shoulder, adding that he is now scheduled for treatment at the hospital and is feeling incredibly confident, telling the hosts: “I’m extremely confident that everything will be sorted very quickly and I will be back to normal.” Storm Huntley noted that it must have been very scary, prompting Mike to explain that it was the word cancer that took him by surprise.

The dermatologist had reviewed his concerns and then informed him that he did in fact have cancer after a “very thorough check”. Other cancers were found in that check, but were able to be “frozen off” at that moment. He stated: “These are connected, but at my age they suddenly did a check over and found other things, none of the others were malignant… sometimes you get a little growth and they can get worse so they burned a couple of those off and that was it.”

He explained that it was “quite painful” and was for a few days. The dermatologist had explained to him that when there’s obvious cancer, there can be other forms of it in various places. The injury in his eye was the thing that initially got him to go and get checked as he said: “About a year ago it started opening up again and I got it checked and in fact, it had become cancerous, but I didn’t think it was. It got more and more bloody, the make-up team were having more and more trouble hiding it.”

Similarly, the dermatologist noticed that his bubble at the end of his nose had “spread up to the top”. Mike was informed that he would need to lose his right eyebrow during the treatment, but Storm reassured him that there are “wonderful things” to do to fix your eyebrows now.

Alexis then asked him if he wore suncream and stayed out of the sun as Mike said: “I am the least likely victim of getting skin cancer by exposure to sunlight or sunrays,” explaining that he’s always “disliked the sun” and would avoid it in the summer. He questioned the doctor: “How could that have happened to me?” But was informed by the doctor that at his age, anybody can catch it.
