There are huge delays and several miles of traffic on the M56 following a serious "multi-vehicle" collision. Drivers are facing 60 minute delays eastbound between junction 14 (Ellesmere Port) and junction 12 (Runcorn).
National Highways has warned there is currently four miles of tcongestion on the approach. Motorway camera footage shows extremely heavy traffic at a complete standstill on the impacted section of the M56. National Highways wrote on X: "There are 60 minute delays on the #M56 eastbound between J14 #EllesmerePort and J12 #Runcorn following a multiple vehicle collision. There are 4 miles of congestion on the approach."
