Cast opposite award-winning British star Josh O’Connor in upcoming movie Three Incestuous Sisters, might Sir Mick Jagger finally achieve the acting success he craves? Filming his role as O’Connor’s father on the Italian island of Stromboli, Sir Mick, 82, has long hankered for a second screen career alongside Rolling Stones commitments, only to be left frustrated by executives offering him “a lot of rubbish”. Still thin-skinned about his acting struggles all these decades on – he’s had a handful of largely forgettable parts down the years – Jagger’s been heard to lament: “I wish I’d done a bit more, I wish I’d got better roles.”
It’s often suggested the damage was done as long ago as 1970, when Sir Mick landed his biggest film role to date playing Irish-Australian outlaw, Ned Kelly. Mercilessly ridiculed for his hopeless accent at the time, the rock legend maintains he’s never seen it.
