The Red Arrows have a busy day planned with performances at the English Riviera Airshow over Torbay and at Midlands Air Festival. Britain's acrobatic air display team kicked off its new season on Friday after seven months of training.

This season includes appearances in the skies over Britain, the continent and in the US, where the Red Arrows will mark 250 years since American independence. Before that, the team will wow the crowds at Torbay before jetting off to the Midlands.

Scheduled to depart Exeter Airport at 11.45am on Saturday (May 30), the Red Arrows are due to perform in the skies over Torbay at midday.

Then at 2.41pm the same day, the Red Arrows will leave Exeter Airport for a flypast over Upper Wardington at about 2.54pm.

From East Midlands Airport, the jets are scheduled to soar into the air again at 5.48pm for Midlands Air Festival at Ragley Hall, Warwickshire, then head back to the flights hub for 6.33pm.

Be advised that the routes and timings can change becuae of weather conditions or other operational requirements.

The Red Arrows will fly with seven Hawk T1 jets rather than the usual nine this season, except for the US trip and for the King's Birthday Flypast.

A Royal Air Force spokesperson said seven jets would be used for other displays, with "high-quality, engaging" displays continuing.

Wing Commander Sasha Nash, the Red Arrows' commanding officer, said ahead of the season's start that the team was looking forward to representing the best of British aviation.

Responsible for designing the display, Wing Cdr. Jon Bond said this year's show includes manoeuvres not performed for 30 years.

This includes the "showstopper" Cascade formation in the full version of the display, which was last flown in 1997.

It sees the iconic jets loop to around 6,500ft, right in front of the crowd, leading into a coordinated fanning‑outwards into a wall formation.
