A UK laundry and dry-cleaning business boasting more than 60 years of industry experience has collapsed into liquidation, according to company records.

Silver City Laundry, which provided dry cleaning, linen rental, workwear cleaning and branding services to domestic and commercial customers, has entered compulsory liquidation following a winding-up petition.

The company, which operated across Aberdeen, Inverness, Dundee and surrounding areas, described itself as offering a dedicated customer-by-customer service and was headed by directors Ray Galvin and Derek Duguid.

On its website, the firm said its leadership team had more than 60 years of combined experience in the commercial and domestic laundry sector.

It offered a range of services including dry cleaning, service washes, linen hire and workwear maintenance for businesses across Scotland.

However, official records show the company is now in liquidation.

A compulsory winding-up petition was lodged on March 5, 2026, with the winding-up commencing on the same date.

The firm's registered office has also been changed to the offices of insolvency specialists FRP Advisory Trading Limited in Aberdeen.

According to Companies House records, the company was incorporated in May 2017 and had recently fallen behind on several statutory filing requirements.

Its latest accounts, covering the period to May 31, 2025, were overdue and should have been filed by February 28, 2026.

The company's next confirmation statement was also overdue, having been expected by May 24, 2026.

Before its collapse, Silver City Laundry promoted itself as providing a premium service with no pooled linen and separate laundering for individual customers.

The company stated that newly signed linen contracts involved purchasing fresh stock specifically for each client rather than sharing inventory across customers.

The liquidation marks the latest challenge for businesses operating in the cleaning and hospitality support sectors, many of which have faced rising energy bills, labour costs and broader economic pressures in recent years.

At this stage, it remains unclear what impact the liquidation will have on existing customers, employees and suppliers.

FRP Advisory has been appointed to oversee the insolvency process, with the company's affairs now subject to formal winding-up proceedings.
