An officer involved in the Henry Nowak case has resigned, Hampshire Police have confirmed. A spokesperson said: "Three of the officers are still serving, one officer has resigned. As the IOPC has confirmed, they are all being treated as witnesses, so not subject to any current restrictions."
The development comes after body-worn camera footage was released following the conviction of Vickrum Digwa for the murder of Henry Nowak in Southampton. The footage shows officers detaining Mr Nowak after Digwa made allegations against him. During the incident, Mr Nowak repeatedly told officers he had been stabbed. On Monday, Digwa was sentenced to life imprisonment for Mr Nowak's murder. The court heard Digwa falsely claimed that Henry Nowak had racially abused him and knocked off his turban, leading officers to detain the 18-year-old before his stab wounds were identified.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) is investigating the actions of the officers involved in the incident.
An IOPC spokesperson previously said the officers were being treated as witnesses and that no misconduct proceedings had been initiated against them.
Separately, Digwa has been charged with six counts of possessing an offensive weapon in a private place.
His father, Moga Singh, 52, and brother, Gurpreet Digwa, 27, have also been charged with the same offences, while Gurpreet Digwa faces four additional charges.
