I visited Jeremy Clarkson's pub earlier this week and honestly, consider me impressed. I was worried before going there that it was going to be flooded with crowds and that actually having a nice meal in the pub was going to be near on impossible, but it's quite the opposite. We'd booked a table, which is a feat in itself as you have to go online on the 1st of the month prior at 9am and try and land yourself a spot. Luckily, I managed to get a midweek spot for 2:15pm; and when we arrived 15 minutes early, we were still able to be seated pretty quickly.

We arrived early because honestly we expected queues to be insane, and I do think it's worth arriving a tad early, because the car park is probably the trickiest thing about it all. If you have a blue badge, you can park on-site, otherwise the cars are sent to a separate overflow car park which is essentially just a big old field of mud; it's wet, slippery and I wouldn't wear nice shoes (or even trousers) if I was fully aware of that, but in hindsight, I probably should've expected it.

Walking up to the pub you can see why there are so many cars on site, because I thought there was no way that number of people would fit inside; there's a huge beer garden and tent on the land for people to visit even if they haven't managed to get themselves a table, which is ideal. However, we headed straight inside and queued up to be seated. The staff were immediately attentive, we didn't stand for long at all and it was so clear to me that service was of utmost importance to Clarkson.

When we sat down to look at our menus a server came over pretty quickly afterwards, and in fact, from start to finish we were served and out of the door in under an hour and a half, which was all pretty impressive considering we had two courses. The pub is pretty big, and at no point did it feel like we were sat on top of other people, which was great. But one thing I actually have to rave about is the food, trust me when I say it is GOOD.

If you're expecting your typical 2 for £12 deal in a pub, you'll be sorely disappointed. Because this food is far, far pricier. But the quality is immense. I paid £26 for a main, pie and mash, but it was the most incredible pie I'd ever had in a pub. My husband's food also cost £26, but it was a rib which honestly may have been the best meal I ever tried. The pie was popular by a long way with loads of people ordering it, but if I could order again, I'd take the rib. We then opted for a dessert which was mostly because we kept seeing people ordering it and it looked incredible, albeit expensive, with an Eton Mess coming in at a whopping £12, but it was again, incredible.

I complimented how quickly the food had arrived, and that seemed to be the case for most people, which was great. We then headed out to the garden area to see what was inside and found little food stalls alongside a butchers. Sadly we had a two and a half hour drive home so we didn't load up with any extras that needed to be kept cool, but overall, what an incredible experience. I would go back again for sure, but not without some old shoes, trousers I don't mind getting mucky, and an order of ribs!
