Actress Gina Ferrall has sadly died aged 67. The Broadway star has appeared in several productions including Mamma Mia!, Big River and most recently, Tom Stoppard's acclaimed Leopaldstadt. The performer died after a brief battle with uterine sarcoma - a rare and aggressive form of cancer that originates in the muscles or connective tissue of the womb, according to the NHS. The news of her death was confirmed by her husband, Broadway drummer and percussionist Kory Grossman, Deadline reports.

Tributes have poured in on social media for the beloved star as fans and colleagues offered their condolences. One penned, "I got the blessed chance to play Bill to her Rosie in Mamma Mia on Broadway and she was a total delight and a consummate professional. Such a sad loss for our community."

Another echoed, "Gina was an absolute light. I’ll be forever grateful to have had the opportunity to work with her and witness her genius every night on stage. She brought so much joy to the world both on and off stage." A third wrote, "I met Gina when we both did Mamma Mia on Broadway and I couldn’t have asked for a more welcoming and loving human. I will miss her so much."

A fourth added, "I'm so sad to hear of her passing. My deepest sympathies to her family, friends, and colleagues."

Gina was a familiar face on Broadway, performing as Madame Thénardier in the original Broadway run of Les Misérables, Madame de la Grande Bouche in Beauty and the Beast, Domina in the 1966 revival of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum.

Other performances included Sister Berthe in the 1998 revival of The Sound of Music, Mrs. Reed in Jane Eyre, Rosie in the original Broadway run of Mamma Mia!, Widow Douglas in Big River, and the 2016 revival of She Loves Me, along with standing by for multiple roles in It Shoulda Been You.

She also toured extensively in Les Misérables and played Madame Morrible in the fifth national tour of Wicked.

Her final Broadway performance came in 2022 where she played Poldi and understudied Grandma Emilia in Leopoldstadt.

She is survived by her husband and their beloved dog Sully.
