The Princess of Wales’s engagement ring has long been dubbed one of the most iconic among royals and whenever the public get to see it, it’s always paired with her Welsh gold wedding band. Princess Catherine has rarely parted ways with the stunning jewellery piece since her engagement in 2010. A year later, she added the wedding band to it; however, her husband, Prince William, has never been seen wearing one.

While his brother, Prince Harry, always sports his own wedding ring, the future King never wears one, and the answer is quite simple – he doesn’t like jewellery. Just before the royal wedding in 2011, palace sources revealed that William would not be wearing a wedding ring after he and Catherine exchanged vows.

They told the Mirror: “He’s not one for jewellery. He’s never worn any.

“He decided he didn't want to wear one now. It’s all down to personal preference.”

The late Queen’s husband, Prince Philip, also never wore a wedding band.

In 2018, royal commentator Eloise Parker told Marie Claire. “Although it’s traditional for royal women to wear both an engagement ring and a wedding ring after they get married, it’s never been traditional for royal men to wear one.”

She added: “That’s why Prince Philip and Prince William don’t wear them.

“I think when you have a wedding watched by millions, everyone knows you’re married.”
